Tonight's my last night in Georgia.  I'm in Macon for one last night at Nanette's.  Tomorrow we will meet my sister Julie's family at the Dekalb Farmer's Market so she can give me the stuff I left at her house, then Nan and I will drive to B'Ham where I'll meet with Mat and he'll have to drive me to Madison.  That turned out more difficult to arrange than I thought.  Maybe I'll catch up what's happened, and why I'm in Atlanta car-less later.  But it's been great.  I've had fun. I've gotten back in touch with my best friend, Nanette, and we did some Cherry Blossom Festival stuff. I've gotten to know my sister Julie better, and to play with my nephews John John and Daniel, and niece Jessica.  Not to mention getting to go to the ASTA National Conference (ASTA=American String Teacher's Association) and watch Thomas and Consort de l'Ancienne play in a seminar T's teacher gave on teaching using Early (as in 11th - 16th Century) Music. Of course we got to dress in our costumes.  Thomas is on the far left. His teacher is on the far right.  You can't see everyone.

Thomas and Shelby and I went to the Franklin School Medieval Feast.  Four removes.  Enough food to kill a fellow, and delicious!  We all wore costumes.  Greens, veggies & fruit, two different kinds of bread with spreads, chicken in orange sauce, stewed apples, bowtie noodles, and the cake was shaped like a castle, with strawberries on top and snow (whipped cream) all around the bottom.

And of course, Thomas played medieval music on the violin.

After the feast, after I'd changed into more modern clothing, I went to our local Books a Million.  I needed to buy a book for Shelby for the upcoming lit group.  I was also going to buy Breaking Dawn, since Thomas wasn't along to herd me past the books. However they were sold out.  I really don't like going there.  It's sort of like going to a flea market as far as consistent stock is concerned.  But I stayed there an hour, not finding anything, and being amazed at the curious (lack of) filing system.

Then I hid out some more at Walgreen's, buying chocolate and picking up drugs.

I would prefer to find a little solitude and quiet in my own house, but it seems just fairly impossible.

Okay, I'm dreading tomorrow.  It's going to be one of those hellatiously busy days where I have no time to think hardly, and I prove that I have no life of my own.

I get up two hours earlier than I like  --7am--  to drive 40mins to take Thomas to Calculus (9-10:40) .  Sit in the Lobby of the Math & Science Bldg (no wifi) and wait.  Maybe get a little paperwork done.  Drive home, usually there by 11:15. Eat lunch. Teach Thomas & do housework.  Take Thomas to the school for band practice 4-5:00.  Drop Thomas at home, drive into town (40mins) to be at the Autism Society by 6.  I wish it wasn't so traumatic for him to drive.  But anyway, I'm just whiny tonight.

But Friday I can sleep late, I just have to make Thomas study and practice violin, and don't have to go anywhere until the Asperger's moms' meeting for supper.

Saturday, again with the getting up early, to get into town by 8, for an SCA event.  Thomas's teacher and some other students are playing Medieval music during the feast (wearing Medieval Garb).  We're going early so Thomas can go to an arrow-making class.  I've got to take a camera.

Just life as it goes for me.

Dressed up in medieval garb and went to a feast today. Thomas was one of the troubadours playing medieval music. Way cool and lots of fun. (the good)

Well I've owned my new car for 9 days, as of tonight, and yesterday, when I had only only it for 7.5 days, someone rear-ended me. Yep, wrecked already. (the Bad)

Luckily it was a very small Honda, and her car actually when a little under my bumper, so the only thing I need is a new bumper. Which will only be, tax and all, about $585. And she's totally responsible. And she claims she has insurance, but I have a bad feeling about her and this alleged insurance. I, of course, the responsible citizen, have coverage for uninsured drivers, but it has a $500 deductible. (the weird)

I swear, if she doesn't have insurance, I will personally make sure she at least gets her license pulled.

When I was younger, I had a big vengeful streak, which as I matured, I learned not to act on, to be nice, play by the rules, blah blah blah. But as I get older, I'm a little more likely to say "what the hell." Like that lovely scene in Fried Green Tomatoes (movie version) where Kathy Bates just rams this little brat's car and says, "that's what it's like to be older, and well insured."

Or, as H.L. Menken said, "Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats."
